Battle Woods Explorer Trail.

History, trees, and nose-to-the-ground scent trails in 1066 country

A large, expansive woodland with miles of scent-rich trails in the heart of 1066 country

Set in the historic countryside that witnessed the Battle of Hastings, this woodland adventure is a paradise for curious noses and energetic paws.

Battle Woods is big enough to take over two hours to explore fully, which means we can vary the route each time, keeping things fresh and exciting for the dogs. From long, wide galloping tracks to narrow, winding trails that plunge deep into the forest, every path offers something new to discover.

The woodland is beautifully varied: oak, birch, and chestnut stands; Scots pine with thick ferns underfoot; and spruce groves with soft carpets of needles. Dogs can scramble over fallen logs, nose through fern-covered hollows, and enjoy peaceful glades to pause in.

🌳 Woodland Dash

We start with an energy burst straight into the main forest, where oaks and chestnuts form a dramatic canopy and the undergrowth hums with wildlife activity.

🐾 Open Trail Safari

This is where the sniffing starts. Foxes, deer, and rabbits are all regular visitors, and their trails are irresistible to canine noses. It's nose-down, tail-up time.

🌿 Pine & Ferns Warren

Dogs weave through undergrowth, leap over trunks, and balance across uneven ground in the Scots pine section, where thick ferns cover the floor.
